Each and every novel, short story and series on this site represents a considerable investment in time, effort and energy!
First an idea surfaces in my mind and then I write a little to get the feel of the opening, the introductory characters and the feel of where they are and where they going to. After that, a rush to get it all down on the page before the ideas and deliciously horrific predicaments are lost to me. A few weeks, perhaps more...
What results is the first draft. Precious, but by no means complete. As I write, my faithful editor reviews, comments and feeds my imagination. The exceptional C.H, my editor, then receives the full text and sifts through it for inconsistencies, grammar, misspellings as well as touches that he feels, as a reader, may need sliding into the text. This is a collaborative effort, but my say is final... Just as you would expect!
The draft now returns to me to be worked on. Some stylistic adjustment, repeated words in paragraphs, better ways of explaining an action, scenic embellishment, continuity and touches that are required to make the draft feel solid, and satisfied with the result.
Before this point is reached, the cover design needs working on... Often the creation of the cover brings new ideas to the fore or sets a mood for writing. When all of the above is complete, the layout and prefacing additions are added, the book is converted to an ePub and a PDF version for sale and the website pages are created to host the book.
This means that a synopsis needs to be created and the page organised and programmed. Covers need to be added to the page, other books in the series, the synopsis and so on.
This is roughly one of the stages that the book is at the moment. If you find this page, then it is guaranteed to emerge and be offered for sale and I have a good idea of when it will be ready. The wordcount is probably close to where I think that it will be by +/- a few hundred words here and there, and the manuscript is readable...
You will find out more on this page or my blog, when I feel that the book is going to emerge from the shadows and finally be on sale for you to read. I also broadcast it on Instagram and occasionally other social media corners and byways.
