Simon Bradwell, a fairly successful wheeler and dealer, a realtor and developer, a husband and a man who knows the people that decide what needs to be decided… All in all, a man who has life under control, but there is another side to Simon! A cheater to his wife, a fraud to his business associates, a liar and a briber. A man that operates at a level below the one that is openly seen. A trickster and a bully!
This is all about to change, because the past is racing to catch up with him. His lovers and wife are discovering each other, his cheating deals and the law are about to meet and shake hands, his hard-earned and cheated-for money is about to evaporate. Simon Bradwell is about to discover what misdeeds can bring.
The female cast:
And now they are out for revenge, a cabal of women who want just one thing… Simon to be deprived of everything, including his freedom. When Ivetta, the councillor with a dominant streak that runs through and through enters the volatile mixture Simon discovers that he has no exits, no loopholes to escape through and the drawstrings of the net are pulled tight. When Simon cannot pay Ivetta for her services, the real trouble begins…
Though there is a great deal of action, this novel is as much about the psychology of the characters as much as their experiences, delving into their thoughts as they dance moves along…
Miss Irene's thoughts:
I had just published 'Dark Widow' and needed to write another! Instead of rewriting 'Diane', (a rewrite remains out of sight...) I decided to write something rather different and the result was 'A Reversal Of Fortune'.
To give myself a sound-track and theme, I adopted the idea of playing Tarot and the laid-out cards being the fortune of the male victim of his lovers. The result is a reading of the cards that leads Simon to his doom. By the standards of later writings, this is perhaps not as strong as others, but the psychological aspects of being destroyed by the women that a were cheated on are strong enough...
Looking back on this first attempt to write a 'domestic' type Femdom tale, I am not so sure of it... Many of the scenes are both inventive and lure the reader on, but the structure is a little overwrought. However, the scene where Ivetta plays 'blind man's buff' in the darkness of her bedroom, it still sticks in my mind!
